CSA Student Shines at AYDA Awards 2024 International Finale

The City School of Architecture (CSA) is proud to announce that Nilrandha Fonseka, a talented student of CSA, has won the Nippon Paint Colour Award in the Architectural Category at the AYDA Awards 2023/2024 International Finale, held from July 3rd–5th, 2024 at the ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. Nilrandha was awarded a USD 1,000 cash prize for his outstanding project “Project Bhumi”, which reflects a strong commitment to sustainable, regenerative design that harmonises with nature.

The AYDA Awards, hosted by Nippon Paint, bring together national winners from 17 countries and regions. This year’s theme, “CONVERGE: Championing Purposeful Designs,” challenged students to create meaningful and socially impactful work. Nilrandha’s concept stood out among over 6,000 submissions, receiving praise for both innovation and alignment with the theme.

CSA also proudly recognises Ranura Perera, another finalist from the Interior Design Category, who placed among the Top 28 globally — a remarkable achievement at an international level.

The AYDA platform is more than a design competition — it offers mentorship, coaching, and global exposure for aspiring architects and designers. Winners of the main categories received invitations to the Harvard Graduate School of Design’s Discovery Program, fully funded by Nippon Paint.

CSA extends its congratulations to both students for representing Sri Lanka on a global stage and encourages all aspiring designers to participate in the upcoming AYDA Awards 2024/2025 under the new theme “CONVERGE: Global Design Solutions.”
